In a recent survey the qualities of the average Briton were described; do you fit in the mould? According to the survey, the average Briton has the surname 'Smith', drives a Ford Fiesta and spends their holidays in Spain. If this is sounding like you then don't fret, you are just one of many people who have a well known surname, drive a reliable car and more importantly, choose to spend their well earned breaks in one of the best loved holiday destinations in the world.

Spain often gets tarred with a stereotypical brush, yes people have been going there for many years but it is anything but ordinary. Spain itself is split into two sections, the Spanish islands such as Ibiza and Menorca or the mainland itself which offers miles of stunning coastline and several exciting cities perfect for a weekend break. Whatever you are looking for in a holiday, chances are you can find it in this staple European destination.

The best and most popular time to visit Spain is during the summer holidays when the temperatures are at their highest and presumably the two 'Average Children' will have finished school for the summer. It is quite competitive to book a one or even two week holiday in Spain during the peak season however this ultimately shows that this destination is far from average.

The survey went on to detail how the 'average Briton' avoids the lure of far flung destinations such as Egypt and America unless travelling abroad for a special occasion. Considering the release of figures showing the rise in British visitors to Sharm el Sheikh and Florida, this could simply suggest that more people are choosing to go on holiday. Spain is a highly popular destination but the fact that so many more people arrive there each year could be due to a number of basic facts. For instance any parent that has travelled with a young child will know that the last thing they need is a long haul flight with a screaming child!

If you have read this and thought that you fit into the stereotypical average category, fear not. Being average in terms of these guidelines simply means that you have excellent taste in holiday destinations! If you don't fit into the categories but are attracted to the 'average lifestyle' get in line and start booking your Spanish getaway (although don't forget to book airport parking for your Ford Fiesta!).
